Comfort

What I look at: The room should have real quality of stay: space, light, noise, temperature and how easy the room makes it to live in for a night or a few days. But I also rate what you can feel as comfort outside the room. Is there a spa? A swimming pool? What does the hotel offer, and what does its surroundings offer, not only the room?

How I score it

  • 5: generous, bright, quiet and well thought out, with facilities and surroundings worth using.
  • 3: perfectly fine, with nothing missing for a normal stay.
  • 2 or below: cramped, dark, loud or very basic, or a hotel that offers nothing beyond the bed and the bathroom.

Comfort is not the same as Sleep. A room can be spacious and bright and still have a poor bed, or the other way round.
