Swissôtel Tallinn

The Swissôtel Tallinn was a very pleasant surprise. I was upgraded to an executive floor and had a large, bright room with a view over the city and the harbour, the check-in was quick and friendly, and the Executive Lounge served real food. All of that for €94 a night.

Quick verdict: A very friendly check-in, an upgrade to the executive floor, an elegant lobby, a big bright room on an executive floor with a great view, a lounge with food and drinks where I could work, excellent sleep, a top shower, a sauna and a fair price. I found nothing that bothered me. The style is lovely but only a 3 for me. JCI Score 4.4 out of 5.

Location

I came to Tallinn for a business meeting, by ferry from Helsinki, and walked from the ferry terminal to the hotel. It takes about 20 minutes, and it is an easy walk. I was glad to stretch my legs after the crossing.

To the airport, you can take tram line 2 or bus 15. The ride takes only 16 to 18 minutes, which is very short. I took the tram, and it was easy.

Getting There & First Impression

The lobby is large, tidy and very welcoming. The design is elegant, a mix of Nordic and Swiss styles, and I liked it.

Check-In & Loyalty Experience

Check-in was very quick and very friendly. It was an outstanding start to the stay.

I had booked a normal room and got an upgrade to an Executive Floor, where the rooms are bigger. On the same floor is the Executive Lounge, which was open in the evening, and I had access because of my status and the floor.

The lounge offered more than just a few snacks. There was real food and there were drinks. You can sit right at the window and look out over the city. I could also work there, and that was great.

The Room

The room was large and very bright, and it was equipped just the way I like it. I was on a higher floor, and the view over the city and the harbour was wonderful.

The floor is a detail I loved. Most of the room has a wooden floor, which looks lovely, is very clean and is easy to keep clean, so you can see that it is clean. Right next to the bed, however, there is a soft carpet. When you get up in the evening or in the morning, your feet do not touch cold wood. It is a small thing, but it is solved perfectly here, and I was thrilled.

At the window there is a very elegant armchair, where you can sit and look out over the city.

I slept excellently. The bed was great, the air conditioning was pleasant, and I could darken the room well. There were enough power sockets everywhere, and I could work both in the room and in the lounge. The WiFi was fast.

The bathroom was great, and the shower was top.

Before I left I used the sauna and the wellness area. That was very pleasant too.

I did not have breakfast, because I was already on my way to the airport. The lounge food in the evening is described above.
