TRIBE Riga City Centre

The TRIBE Riga City Centre was a real stroke of luck on my first visit to Riga, a city that completely won me over with its beauty. The hotel is in an old building that has been renovated to a very high standard, you cross an inner courtyard to reach the reception, and the staff were simply fantastic. I got an upgrade to an extra-large tower room with its own little lounge corner, a huge, brand-new bathroom and a great shower. I would definitely come back.

Quick verdict: A beautifully renovated old building with a very friendly crew, a big upgrade, a huge brand-new bathroom, a spotless room and a perfect starting point for exploring Riga on foot. Comfort is only okay, and I did not try the extras. JCI Score 4.0 out of 5.

Location

It was my first time in Riga, and I was thrilled by how beautiful the city is. From the airport I took the bus into the city centre, first line 22 and then line 25. You have to change once, and the whole trip takes about 35 minutes. It is super cheap and actually a very direct route, so there is really no need to take an Uber, unless you want to.

The hotel is the perfect starting point for Riga. All the sights are within walking distance.

Getting There & First Impression

The hotel is in an old building that has been renovated to a very high standard. To get to the reception, you walk across an inner courtyard. It all feels welcoming, and the design in the common areas is bold and playful, with black-and-white patterns, red, gold and dark blue.

Check-In & Loyalty Experience

The staff are super friendly, really fantastic. I talked to the crew in the middle of the night as well as during the day, and they were great every time. I give the friendliness a definite 5.

I was lucky to get an upgrade, even to a room that was extra large and had a small lounge corner, because it belongs to a tower. That was extra sweet. I also got a welcome drink in the restaurant, which is in the reception area, so you are served right in the lobby.

The Room

I took the lift to the 4th floor, and I really enjoyed my stay. The room was top. The bathroom was huge and brand new, really beautiful, and the shower was great. Everything was super clean, really wonderfully clean.

Comfort-wise it was okay. I did not use the other facilities, such as a sauna or anything similar, and I do not even know whether the hotel has one, because I had to continue my journey early the next day.

Food & Drink

I had a welcome drink in the restaurant in the reception area. I did not try the breakfast, because I left very early the next morning, so I cannot say anything about it.

One night cost €119.70 (about $138). I earned 470 Reward points and 267 Status points. For a beautifully renovated hotel with an upgrade to a big tower room and such a friendly team, that is good value.
