The SO/ Vienna is a really great hotel in Vienna: a bright, all-white room, a spa with a pool and a sauna, and a dreamy bar and breakfast room at the very top, with a view over the whole city. The check-in was friendly and attentive, and I can only recommend it.
Quick verdict: A top hotel with a perfectly clean, bright room, a great bathroom, a spa with pool and sauna and a fantastic bar and breakfast room on the top floor with a view over Vienna. The service was great. I have nothing to complain about. JCI Score 4.4 out of 5.
Location
The hotel is right in the middle of the city, around the corner from Schwedenplatz, and you walk into the city centre perfectly. The U-Bahn is at the door, and you can even board a boat right there. From the top floor you look across the city, and the spire of St. Stephen's Cathedral stands out in the distance.
Vienna is central everywhere anyway. Stephansplatz, the shopping streets and all the sights are within easy reach, and the food in Vienna is great too.
Getting There & First Impression
Getting here is easy: the U-Bahn is directly in front of the hotel, and from there all the sights are quickly reached.
Check-In & Loyalty Experience
The check-in was very pleasant and attentive. I had no ALL status at the time, so there was no upgrade and no welcome gesture to report.
The Room
I had a simple room, but it was great. Inside, everything was white and very bright, and the room was on a middle floor.
- The bed was very comfortable.
- The furnishing was lovely.
- The bathroom was great, and the shower deserves five stars.
- There was a small desk, which is good enough for working.
I slept very well. Cleanliness was perfect.
The hotel also has a great spa area with a swimming pool and a sauna. I used it and enjoyed it.
Food & Drink
The bar at the very top, Das Loft, is dreamy, with a view over the whole city. The breakfast is served up there as well, and it was excellent, tasty and with that great view on top of it. Because of the view, I would breakfast here every day.

We were two people, and I booked two rooms. On average I paid about €162 per room and night. For a hotel like this in Vienna, with a spa and a rooftop bar, that is a good price.
Verdict
What I particularly liked
The central location with the U-Bahn at the door, the very pleasant check-in, the bright all-white room, the comfortable bed, the great bathroom, the spa with pool and sauna, the bar and the excellent breakfast on the top floor with the view over Vienna, and the great service.
What I didn't like
Nothing worth mentioning.
Would I come back? I can only recommend this hotel. It is a great one.
