The Mercure Grand Hotel Biedermeier Wien is one of the really beautiful Accor hotels in Vienna, and it is not as expensive as the SO/ Vienna. The rooms are a little old-fashioned and still stylish, with an ironic Viennese wink, and the breakfast is excellent. I have been here more than once.
Quick verdict: A characterful, individual hotel with super friendly staff, a very comfortable bed, a great shower and an excellent, very Viennese breakfast buffet. The rooms are not big, and the style is a matter of taste: a bit frumpy, but with charm. JCI Score 3.8 out of 5.
Location
The hotel is very well located, and it is easy to get to. I think I walked from the Praterstern station to the hotel.

Check-In & Loyalty Experience
The reception is super friendly, and check-in is quick and good. I think I had no status yet at the time, so none was taken into account.
Once I accidentally paid twice. The hotel transferred the money back to me. It had all gone a bit strangely, but the staff were still extremely accommodating and really nice about it.
The Room
The rooms differ a little from one another, and they are a bit frumpy, if I may say so. In a way they are very old-fashioned, and still modern and stylish, with an ironic Viennese wink.
- The bed was super comfortable.
- There was a small desk. The rooms are not huge, but still comfortable.
- The water and the shower were great.
I slept very well. Cleanliness was good.
The hotel also has a small spa with a sauna, which adds to the comfort.
Food & Drink
The breakfast is excellent, really Viennese and very extensive. It was a bit crowded, and the breakfast room is a winding restaurant with many corners. But the buffet is great, with everything you need and more. I had a very good time there.
Digital Customer Experience
Nothing digital to report.
The Bill & Value
I paid €188 for one night. That is a fair price for such an individual hotel in the centre of Vienna, and well below the SO/ Vienna.
Verdict
What I particularly liked
The very friendly reception, the quick check-in, the individual rooms with their Viennese wink, the very comfortable bed, the great shower, the small spa with a sauna and the excellent Viennese breakfast.
What I didn't like
The rooms are not big, the style is a little frumpy, and the breakfast room is crowded and winding.
Would I come back? Yes, I have been here more than once. I only wonder why it is a Mercure: with its individual style, it feels more like a boutique hotel.
