The 25hours Hotel Frankfurt The Trip is a playful design hotel right in the main station district, and the area is exactly what you would expect from a station district. Inside, it is a different world: individual rooms, super friendly staff, very good welcome drinks in the restaurant and a free minibar. I have stayed here several times and I always get an upgrade.

Quick verdict: A playful and surprisingly quiet design hotel in a side street near Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof, with friendly staff, a very good restaurant, a free minibar, individual rooms and a rooftop terrace with a skyline view and a log-cabin sauna. The bathroom is the weak spot, with an impractical washbasin, and the surroundings are rough, as in any station district, and you would not want to live here, but as a base for exploring the city or for work near the station it is a great choice. JCI Score 3.3 out of 5.

Location

The hotel sits in the Hauptbahnhof area, and I have to be honest: it is not a pretty part of town. It is a typical station district. You may hear some shouting in the street now and then, and there can be broken glass on the pavement.

On the other hand, the hotel is in a side street, so you hardly hear any traffic. In that sense you can call it very quiet. Nobody would want to live here, but if you arrive by train or have to work near the station, it is a really good place to start exploring the city from.

Getting There & First Impression

The hotel is great fun from the outside already. The facade carries the motto "Around the World in a Day", and the inner courtyard has a terrace with red tables and plants. Inside, it is big and playful, with a lot of humour in the details.

Check-In & Loyalty Experience

The staff are super nice, and I have been welcomed warmly every time. As a Platinum member I always get an upgrade here. I also get a welcome drink, which I have in the hotel's restaurant, and those drinks are really very good.

The Room

The rooms are cool. The design is bold and colourful, with a blue wall, a wooden desk, retro touches and a lot of small, funny details. What I like most is that the rooms are so individual. There is always a nice welcome card, in my room it said "come as you are", and there is always a boombox where you can play music, which is a fun touch. The room is compact but never feels cramped, and the hotel itself is big.

The bathroom is an open bathroom, but it is not simply in the middle of the room: the washbasin sits in a small niche, tucked away in a corner, with an orange marble top and a framed mirror. It is a very flat, slanted basin, and honestly it is super impractical. You can see that someone once thought it looked stylish, but in daily use it does not work. The taps are part of the problem: you really have to get used to turning them on fully. The bathroom floor is a kind of linoleum or plastic flooring. I prefer that to old tiles, but it does not feel very high quality. The shower has a glass door and a hand shower, and the toilet is separate.

The minibar is included. There is a beer, a few small bottles and a chocolate bar, which is a nice little extra.

Food & Drink

The restaurant in the hotel is really very good. I use it mainly for my welcome drinks, and they have been excellent every time.

Rooftop Terrace & Sauna

This is one of the best things about the hotel. Up on the roof there is a cool terrace, and from there you can look out a little over the Frankfurt skyline. Right next to it there is a log-cabin sauna, which is wonderful, especially on cold days. The sauna on the roof is a bit of the 25hours motto, and it is a really great feature. I enjoy it every time I am here, because it is so pleasant after a long working day.

The Bill & Value

One night cost €61.18 (about $71). I earned 252 Reward points and 143 Status points. For a design hotel with an upgrade and a free minibar, that is a very good price. My earlier stays here cost between about €54 and €127 a night. You can check current rates and availability on the official Accor page for the 25hours Hotel Frankfurt The Trip.

Verdict

What I particularly liked

The playful design, the individual and cool rooms, the nice welcome card, the boombox for music, the super friendly staff, the upgrades, the very good restaurant and welcome drinks, the free minibar, the rooftop terrace with its skyline view, the log-cabin sauna on the roof and the surprisingly quiet side street.

What I didn't like

The impractical, flat and slanted washbasin with taps you have to get used to, the plastic-looking bathroom floor that does not feel high quality, and the rough station surroundings, with some shouting and broken glass in the street at times.

Would I come back? Yes, I already have, several times.
