- ALL StatusPlatinum. Very friendly check-in, welcome drink at the bar
- WalkabilityAbout 6 to 8 minutes on foot from the bus stop
- Airport / TrainTwo buses from the airport into the city centre, then a short walk
The ibis Vilnius Centre is a brand-new ibis, and it turned out very differently from what I usually expect from the brand. The check-in was friendly, the lobby is modern and spacious, and the room was tidy and spotless. Comfort is still one star, because it's an ibis. But it is one of the few ibis hotels I'm happy to come back to.
Quick verdict: A new, clean and practical ibis with a friendly check-in, a tidy room without the usual clutter and a welcome drink at the bar. The room is small and basic, and the shower is weak. JCI Score 3.1 out of 5.
Location
I came from the airport in Vilnius with two buses into the city centre. Then I had to walk a bit, about six, seven, eight minutes, to get to the hotel. In front of the hotel there is a construction site.
Getting There & First Impression
The hotel is a new building, and everything is modern and generously furnished. The lobby has lots of furniture, even though there were hardly any people around. The bar and restaurant area, the "ibis kitchen", is colourful and bright, with a wall mural and designer chairs.
Check-In & Loyalty Experience
The check-in was very friendly, and I got my key card quickly. I could go up to my floor right away.
My welcome drink I had at the bar in front. The receptionist, who also runs the bar, poured my white wine from a box. It is not the most elegant way to serve wine, but that's fine.
The Room
I was on the third floor. The room looks the way ibis rooms look today, but it was very tidy, very clean and not as crammed as ibis rooms sometimes are. Often all the ibis furniture is pushed into the corner. I don't need a wardrobe, and I don't need that strange shelf in the corner either. Here it was calmer.
The room is small, around 16 m², and the bed fills a lot of it. There is a small desk with a chair, a TV and a minibar. The minibar is empty, but a few drinks were included and waited on the desk, together with a few sweets. On top of the minibar sits a multi-plug cube with several USB ports. That seems to be standard in ibis hotels: there are not many sockets, so they always put this cube there. I wonder why they still use this old adapter even in brand-new rooms. That is not a smart solution. The window looks onto the building next door.
The bathroom is brand new. It's basic, as always at ibis, but practical, very clean and tidy, with a glass shower and a wall-mounted toilet. Not much water came out of the shower. The nice, thick shower jet I had hoped for was not there.
Food & Drink
I did not book breakfast, so I have nothing to report on it this time. It is served downstairs in the big restaurant, the "ibis kitchen". The hotel also has a bar. I will be in Vilnius again this year, so I can write more about the breakfast then.
Digital Customer Experience
Nothing digital to report.
The Bill & Value
One night cost €105.30 (about $122). I earned 208 Reward points and 118 Status points. That is a fair price for a new, clean ibis in the centre of Vilnius, though you pay for a very small room. You can check current rates and availability on the official Accor page for the ibis Vilnius Centre.
Verdict
What I particularly liked
The new, modern building, the friendly check-in, the tidy and very clean room without the usual clutter, the practical, clean bathroom, the welcome drink at the bar and the included drinks and sweets in the room.
What I didn't like
The small room, the weak shower, the old multi-plug cube instead of proper sockets, the construction site in front of the hotel and the walk from the bus stop.
Would I come back? Yes, gladly. I normally avoid ibis, but this is one I can almost recommend.
