The Novotel Vilnius Centre stands at a big square in the middle of Vilnius. I was allowed into my room even though I arrived early, and I got a room on the top floor with a far view and a nice park right across the street. The hotel is a bit older, and the bathroom felt like the 90s. But the welcome was warm, the bed was a proper Novotel bed, and the WiFi was very good.
Quick verdict: A central Novotel with a very friendly welcome, an early room, a top-floor view over the park and a wine bar downstairs. The room, the small desk and especially the bathroom are showing their age. JCI Score 3.2 out of 5.
Location
I came from the airport in Vilnius by bus. I did not have to change, but I had to walk six, seven minutes from the bus stop to the hotel.
Directly across from the hotel there is a park, and it is really beautiful. Next to the hotel a big shopping street starts, with a lot of tasty restaurants. You do not have to walk far to eat something good.
Getting There & First Impression
The hotel is a big, imposing building at a wide square, with a revolving door and a glass canopy at the entrance.
Check-In & Loyalty Experience
I arrived a bit early, but they let me into my room right away. I was on the ninth floor, the top floor, in room 903, and I think I also got a room upgrade.
On the ground floor there is a wine bar, where I easily enjoyed my welcome drink. In the room there was a small welcome gift as well: a little cheese plate, fruit and chips, with a glass and a small bottle of red wine.
The Room
The room is in the Novotel style, but it has aged a bit. You can see that the whole hotel is a bit older. From the ninth floor you can see far, and the park across the street looks lovely from above. On my day there was a demonstration in the park, and I could hear it in the room, unfortunately.
The bed is the standard Novotel bed, with a photo wallpaper behind it, which you know from other Novotels. I slept very well. There is a desk in the room, but it is small, so I would not want to work there for long. The WiFi was very good, and I liked the space to put my suitcase. There is a coffee machine in the room, but the minibar is not free, which almost irritates me by now as a status guest in a Novotel.
The bathroom, oh, the bathroom was really from the 90s. There is a bathtub, but everything is arranged in an awkward way. The washbasin is terrible, and the tap comes in from the side, which is really impractical. The shower is not great and stands for the whole bathroom.
Food & Drink
I did not have breakfast at the hotel, because the streets around it have so many good places. I had a really delicious Eggs Benedict there, but with tuna sashimi and a tomato and coriander salsa. I can recommend it, it was excellent. The wine bar on the ground floor was perfect for the welcome drink.
Digital Customer Experience
Nothing digital to report.
The Bill & Value
One night cost €86.40 (about $100). I earned 340 Reward points and 193 Status points. For a room on the top floor in the centre of Vilnius, with an early check-in and a welcome gift, that is a good price. You can check current rates and availability on the official Accor page for the Novotel Vilnius Centre.
Verdict
What I particularly liked
The early room, the top-floor view over the park, the wine bar with the welcome drink, the small welcome gift, the standard Novotel bed, the very good WiFi, the space for my suitcase, the coffee machine and the great location with so many restaurants nearby.
What I didn't like
The room is showing its age, the bathroom feels like the 90s, the bathtub and shower are arranged awkwardly, the washbasin with its side tap is impractical, the shower is not good, the desk is small, the minibar is not free for a status guest, and the demonstration in the park was audible in the room.
Would I come back? Yes, for the location, the welcome and the view. I would just hope for a room with a newer bathroom.
